It’s Official: Monsanto’s Roundup Herbicide Causes Birth Defects (Red, Green & Blue)
A new report by some top scientists has nailed it down, and Monsanto isn’t going to be happy. The Agri-giant has built its entire business model, including genetically modified (GMO) crops that dominate the US market, around its Roundup brand herbicide.
The last thing they want to admit is that it causes birth defects.
But that’s just what a group of scientists from a diverse group – including Cambridge University, the King’s College London School of Medicine, and the Institute of Biology, UNICAMP, São Paulo, Brazil – have found…More…
High Protein Breakfast Dampens Hunger Drive Later in the Day (Wellness Resources)
This [University of Missouri] study was done with teenage girls. Some skipped breakfast, others ate an average amount of protein (18 grams) and others had a high protein breakfast (50 grams). The researchers used advanced functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to measure neural activity in response to images of food prior to lunch. They found that a high protein breakfast reduced activation of the brain that would otherwise result in food cravings for the sake of pleasure eating – a primary problem in overweight people. In fact, numerous brain regions showed more stable functionality in response to the high protein breakfast, indicating that the extra protein was very good at helping to control appetite and have a more normal mental relationship with food…More…
BPA Exposure Worse than Thought (NewsInferno)
According to the University of Missouri (UM), reports of BPA exposure have been underestimated. Up until now, laboratory testing has looked at exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) via single exposures; however, a new study finds that when looking at daily diets, exposure to the ubiquitous, estrogenic plastics chemical is much greater than believed.
The study is being described as the first to look at BPA levels in any animal following exposure through a steady diet that mimics the ongoing exposure to BPA that humans routinely receive through typical food packaging…More…
Stem Cells from Milk Teeth (Blic Online)
Stem cells from teeth are the most accessible source of adult stem cells, the latest research indicates. The milk teeth are especially interesting since the cells can be taken and treated until 12 years of a child’s age, i.e. until milk teeth are replaced by permanent ones. The process of taking them is simple, painless and noninvasive….
These are results of research carried out by experts from Serbia within project ‘Regenerative and Modular Potential of Adult Stem Cells’. The project is being worked on in a laboratory for non-experimental hematology and stem cells of the Institute for Medical Research…More…
Minority Kids Drink Far More Bottled Water (This Week in Alternative Medicine)
A new study published first online at the website for Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine finds that 25% of African American and Latino parents give their children bottled water to drink instead of getting their drinking water from the tap. That’s 3 times the number of Caucasian parents who use bottled water exclusively. And the problem, say health experts, is that the families that are most likely to spur the tap in favor of a plastic bottle are among the least able to afford it financially…More…
